Re-Purposing with Wyatt

The new buzz phrase around our house is 're-purposing'.
It's when you find some junk and make it into some other kind of junk.
Sort of 'Shabby Chic Recycling'.
For us, it's always been a lifestyle, but now it is hip!
We like to look for architectural salvage that can be used in the garden.
This is a wood vent, that we are going to put a back on, fill with potting soil, Sedums and trailing plants and make a living wall on the garage.

This section of picket, has had a full life.
It makes a lovely dog backdrop.

Dad's latest project is some old window panes. He bought some new glass for them and will put a photo behind it.
Mom was thinking a picture of a tree.

Dad was thinking a landscape photo.

I was thinking a picture of ME!
Don't you think a big Airedale face would be nice?

Mom says, "NO!" She already sees that view out of every window!

Do you have any re-purposed stuff?
Wyatt

  1. Wyatt,
My mom and dad aren't creative enough to repurpose however we are very' green' in many ways. Good topic for Earth day.

We like your idea of a picture of you!

  2. Hey Wyatt!
Wow, I think a pix of a Wyatt sitting next to a shrub underneath a tree would be just the ticket! Dad re-purposes valuable items alot and Mom calls them junk alot. I try to stay out of it...ahem.

  8. I have read articles on kids who grew up with parents who would re-purpose things and the kids would be picked on at school. Now it's the cool thing to do. I knew Wyatt would lead the pack

  13. Wyatt. Moma LOVES repurposing! Her most recent is an oak papertowel holder that OurGrampaWhoWeNeverMet made for her a gazillion years ago. It no longer holds paper towels (she doesn't use 'em much ... they're hard to repurpose), so now it holds all her bangle bracelets. Makes her smile everytime she sees it ... which is always a promising attitude for us. Personally, we were hoping it might hold rope toys, or something, but we're happy enough with the treats that we get when things make her smile.

Hope your weekend is going well. It looks like your garden is greening up!

    xx

  14. What a neat idea for that wood vent - we can't wait to see how it works out. And yes, we think you look much better in that picture than trees and landscapes - humans make no sense - why do they always want to take our pic if they don't want to frame them? BOL

  17. My mum picked up an old dressing table mirror from the roadside one night - she said it for her mosaics.....only she would love to hang it behind some creeping vines in the garden! Dad won't let her.....he's such a spoilsport sometimes!! I personally think the white frame is built for a vision of Wyatt or Stanzie!! Tail Wuggles, Rubie.

  38. Wyatt - You are the ultimate "green" dog! Love your repurposed items. Can't wait to see what your folks put in the window. We don't see why everybody can't be happy - how about a picture of a landscape with pretty trees AND you in it :)
