5 ingredients

Have you seen the Food Network show, where the chefs have to create something wonderful with 5 ingredients?
As our garden ripens, we are faced with the nightly challenge!

Tonight's five ingredients are...

Strawberries
Rainbow Swiss Chard
Spanish Roja Garlic
Basil
White Radishes
(we may need to add a couple of things)
Mom is thinking of making pesto with the Garlic and Basil and putting it over grilled chicken.
Maybe a small salad with the white radishes.
Steamed  Swiss Chard with a drizzle of lemon and balsamic vinegar.

Topped off with "Mile High Strawberry Pie"!!
A shameful tower of whipped egg whites and a whole lot of sugar, with strawberries and whipped cream in a crumb crust. Oh Yeah!
We might even make a bouquet tonight!

  3. Man, I'm jealous, you have some wonderful bounty from your garden. I barely have enough Swiss Chard to eat a handful of it every couple of days, and nothing else is ready in the garden yet, though I don't know why!

  9. MMM those sound delicious! You should try eating strawberries (and watermelon) with balsamic vinegar, basil, salt & pepper dressing. It is quite nice. The sourness of the dressing & sweetness of the fruit really goes well together especially with watermelon but I guess it would work well with strawberries too.

  15. First I am jealous that you have a garden. We have had the worst summer and it looks like our garden is a total bust. Second, does your Mom own a restaurant or something?? She is always coming us with these fabulous ideas. Whatever you do with those 5 choices I'm sure it will be delicious. Enjoy! :)

  24. What a fabulous meal drawn from your own wonderful garden! Momma would suggest adding the strawberries to the salad for a spciy/sweet combo with the radishes...or sauteeing the swiss chard with LOTS of ginger and a quick dash of maple syrup (real, of course).
