Moon and Stars

I'm growing these mini wally melons.
'Moon and Stars'

They have pretty polka dotty leaves and yellow spots on the fruit.
Everyday mom "thumps" them and I lick them.
How do you know when they are ripe?

We want wally melon!!

  1. Oh, those look good. And even more so since they actually appear to grow in the PNW- I never have luck growing water melons (my watermelon plant is blooming for the first time right now- I think its a bit confused).

  4. We've never seen those. We're just getting ready to plant our little garden. SHE's rapt in the 'Guaranteed to Grow' bit.

  10. I hear licking them helps them grow. Green tongues and all that.

  12. Looks delicious. Always better when it comes straight from the garden.

  13. I wish we have a garden too to plant veggies and fruits but mom can only plant greens in a pot.

  14. The perfect way to know when to pick is to have my mom decide it is ripe, then wait another week.

  16. Ha, ha, that is a great idea! When I worked in environmental education, another City I worked with created a poop-toss game - poop shaped sandbags thrown into a trash can. The game was intended for kids but adults ended up liking it too. This would be another fun, educational game to try.
