It's not too late!

I bet you meant to plant bulbs this fall...and then you forgot?
NO WORRIES, it is not too late!

In fact, many garden centers and catalogs, still have tulips and daffodils at great SALE prices!

But, the ground is frozen and hard...oh my.

Fill up your old plastic nursery containers and other empty planters, about 2/3 full with potting soil.

Place an assortment of bulbs into the soil, pointy side up!
We put 4 bulbs in each gallon pot and about 20 in the larger concrete planters.

Fill the pots to the top with potting soil and then cover the whole bunch with leaves or straw, because plants above ground are more vulnerable to freezing.

In the spring, you can plant directly into the ground or just place the pots around where you need an extra bit of color.

It's always the right time to garden!

Green Paws Indoors!

With the freezing temps, our green paws have moved indoors this week.
We started some Paperwhite bulbs and an Amaryllis bulb.

It's going to be a red-white combo flower...Can't wait to see!
This is just ONE week "Out of the Box"!

We gathered up some interesting leaves off the ground,
for some leaf pressing.

I'm going to use this dictionary...I don't need it anyway,
cuz I r a gud spellir.

You just put the leaf between papers and close the book!
Change the paper every few days...don't use your favorite book, because the pages might get some moisture on them.

Happy Indoor Gardening!

hardware and sausages

I love to go places with my Dad.

After we visited the hardware store across the street,

We shopped at this store.

It's "fondue and sausage night" at home tonight!

I think Stanzie and I might get a little cheese and a piece of crusty bread on our kibble tonight :D

THANK DOG for Dads!!

The Trouble with Treats!

Every month, I like to tell you about a new treat we have tried from Chewy.com
The only trouble is...... I get SO excited, that I forget what I want to say and I just start spinning and jumping and I lose my train of thought!

So, my sister 'Stanzie' has offered to tell you about Nature's Variety Instinct.
She sampled the Turkey Meal and Pumpkin, because her two favorite foods in the whole wide world ARE turkey and pumpkin!
"Bow WOW wow wow Bow, nom nom nom!"

English Translation:
"VERY DELICIOUS, Made with real ingredients like Turkey Meal, Peas, Tapioca and Pumpkin."
"It's like Thanksgiving Day in a box!"

One single protein and one simple starch, Grain-free and gluten-free, all natural with no added salt or sugar, with prebiotics and probiotics.
Nature's Variety is a small, independent pet food company located in the Midwest.
They believe the best nutrition comes from healthy, natural ingredients made in the USA.

Wyatt says,
"Okay, I have calmed down now."
"PLEASE, can I have some more?"

♥♥♥

Wyatt's Spa Treatment

My favorite spa treatment,
a DIP in the pond,

followed by a RUB through the lavender plants.

Good to Go,

Year-round Interest

One of the elements we like to include in our landscapes for our clients, "Year Around Interest".
We make sure, that when the summer blooms fade and the leaves fall, their outdoor space is still inviting.
Here in Western Oregon, USDA zone 8, we are fortunate to have a temperate climate.
Many Sasanqua Camellia varieties bloom from fall to early spring.

Trees and shrubs with colorful or peeling bark, make a winter garden interesting.

One of our favorites, Arbutus Unedo
"Compact Strawberry Bush".

Beauty Berry
This shrub is hardy to USDA zone 5 and provides neon purple berries in the fall!

Many perennials like 'Autumn Joy' Sedum and Ornamental Grass Miscanthus
have displays that last well beyond the first frost.

Tell us about your outdoor plants that look nice in the fall and winter!?!?

Another winter trick tip up our furry sleeves, that gives SO much joy in the dead of winter is outdoor lighting.
We will bark at you later on that subject. It's easier than you think!

Uncle Wyatt

 I'm a good Uncle.
I did my best to give advice to the little fella.

I entertained him.

I told him bed time stories.

He never did get sleepy....

What's going on in that little Airedale brain?

Gosh, was I like this at his age? :)

(come back soon Murphy, we miss you already!)

Babysitting Murphy

First stop, Starbucks. The peeps need more caffeine for this!

Checking out the front porch

Running the little one around a bit.

He must be getting sleepy...

"Murphy, are you sure you wouldn't like to take a nap?"

Here is something to chew..

Murphy's first carrot, he's not too sure...

More potty walks around the yard.....

More toys....

More potty walks..."still not sleepy?"

Stanzie says, "I'm exhausted just watching him!"

AND
Murphy
