It's a bird, It's a plane, It's a Christmas Tree!

If you live in outer Clackamas County, Oregon, you are familiar with the sounds of the helicopters this time of year.
The larger tree farms, bundle the cut Christmas trees into slings, out in the field.

Then fly them over to the semi truck loading area.

This saves time and the worker's backs, getting the trees gathered up from the fields

The trees then go onto a conveyor and into the back of the trucks.

Here are some fun facts about Oregon Christmas Trees!
Oregon is the largest Christmas Tree producing state, selling over 7.3 million trees per year.
Most of those are grown here in Clackamas County.

Where do they go?
45% to California, 10% to other Western States, 9% to Gulf States and 16% to Mexico

Our Grandma's tree farm is in Washington State.

Grandma's trees are award winning beauties and Grandma herself was awarded the highest and most distinguished honor granted by the Pacific Northwest Christmas Tree Association for outstanding contributions to the Christmas tree industry.
Yeah Grandma Evelyn!!
Yeah for beautiful Christmas Trees grown in the Pacific Northwest!

  12. Congrats to your grandma! (please send her to me before my mom mis-decorates my tree) I like the idea of the flying trees, they can deliver it directly to the customers through the chimney too :o)

  13. that is so darn cool - even though Mom hates the idea of cutting down a tree just to decorate it and throw it away a few weeks later - she LOVES the smell of them so she always buys a potted tree that she can plant later
