Flowers on Friday...not for you Bambi!!

Monday through Thursday, the mama goes away to work.
She writes up wholesale orders for pretty plants.
She also makes the weekly plant displays outside the office window.

Meanwhile, back home,
"Us Terriers" try to chase all the naughty deer and bunnies away from OUR floral displays!
It's a tough job!!
Especially protecting the plants further away from the house.
Note this Sedum....the one far away, is missing all the flower stalks and the one by the front door is LOVERLY!!

Same thing with the roses....Hey Bambi! You missed one....BOL!!

Mom finally got the right idea with the stinky spray.
(no worries, just a cocktail of eggs, thyme and garlic)
You spray the entire fence line several times a week....not just the tasty plants!

Deer don't seem to like Hydrangeas

or Butterfly Bushes.

Deer DO like Daylilies and Black-Eyed Susan.

But, we have so many...they can't eat them all!

The veggie garden has been a hit and a miss this year,
but we have a few bright stars!

The Banana Tree is going to have little bananas again this year!

Now, back to our regular programing....what's for dinner?

  1. The deer are beautiful creatures, but it would be nice if they restricted their dining to the forests. They can destroy a garden in no time. Hmmm, does that repellent really work? We don't have a deer problem, but Mom would love to keep those bunnies out of our yard.

  2. I'm sure there are a few bunnies around here too. If only I could catch them with my fast hunting technique! I've never seen a live deer, thouhg. Miss Ginger was the leader of the bunnie zapping brigade until she crossed the bridge in 2010. I'll be sure to be on high alert for those suicidal bunnies@

I reckon you've earned a burger for pawtecting all the close plants - it might have been two burgers if you'd been more successful with the far plants... that said, methinks your garden doth flourish!!! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  4. Shame on the deer and the bunnies for chomping on your beautiful flowers. The few plants that we have in our yard were already here when we arrived so somebody must have done their homework because all that the bunnies eat here is the clover in the grass and we haven't seen any deer - yet.

  5. You still have lots of pretty flowers despite the deer and bunnies.

  6. Between the bunnies, deer and the darn Lazarus gecko holes our flowers are either chomped off or the roots chewing off. Good luck with the stinky stuff. We love Hydrangeas.

  7. Sounds like you terriers have a much more labor intensive job than your Mama. We love all the flowers that are staying safe
and can't wait to see the nommy harvest you get from your garden this year!

  9. I bet you two taught you Mom all she knows about flower arranging and she was a quick learner too.
A terrier's work is never done!! Wyatt and Tegan do you take 12 hour shifts watchin' and waitin' for the deer and the cheeky wabbits.
We had a family once they loved our in ground hostas. Next year dad put them in containers no more trouble.
We look forward to your Oregon Lighthouse post. Mom is excited
    Hugs madi your bfff

  10. You guys have a LOT of work to do at your house!! The deer haven't gotten too crazy with the cottage garden yet...we shall see what happens in the next couple of weeks though. We do not have any vegetables, but the flowers seem to be doing ok! Your flowers are gorgeous!!
