The first blooms of the year

Sunday it was 52 degrees!
We started our day with a 3 mile walk around the golf course.
Later, we poked around the garden and discovered that several things were starting to bloom.

The Cherry tree is starting to do it's thing.
We cut a few rosemary branches too, for a potato recipe that will be prepared later in the week.

Spring is weeks away, but a few winter blooms and a few dry days like today, will tide us over!

  1. We can't imagine blooms under the snow in a deep freeze! You are lucky to have some.

  6. We're betting the potato dish with rosemary is going to be yummy.
Although I might add that rosemary goes well with lamb shanks too, and the bones taste extra nice...

  10. We have nothing but snow today. Our earliest flowers won't appear for at least another six weeks or more! It was great to see that you have a few flowers, though. That rosemary probably smells so yummy!

  13. They are gorgeous! It was just over 77°F when we went for our 5:30 a.m. walk. We're heading for a top of 104°F later today. Would love a couple of days of your temps and some rain. We're moving hoses to keep our plants alive. Enjoy yourselves.

  15. We have a TON of paperwhites in our yard. And yesterday BEFORE the big rain hit, Mommy found me a RIPE strawberry! And she said there were quite a few more almost ready to eat! How lucky is that? And the best thing about winter berries - the slugs, snails and bugs are still hiding underground and are totally unaware of the berries.
