We got off to a slow start on the Idita Walk 2012.

The peeps had to work...blah blah blah.

But we are making up for it these last few days!

Here we GO Stanzie, Here we GO!

Ooops, gotta stop and look for moles.

Ooops, gotta stop and smell the flowers.

Ooops, gotta get back in the car and go for coffee!

I'll have 2 Milkbones, a triple latte for my dad and a soy latte for my mom, please!

Well, even after all that fooling around, we have logged 180 minutes.

Persephone moves to the suburbs!

"Who is Persephone?"

'Persephone' is a city rabbit that needed a new home. Her current mistress went off to college and the parent's (our landscape clients) home and landscape are under construction.

'Persephone the Bunny' was lonesome and sad.

So, we offered to help find her a new home and transport Ms. Bunny and her bunny furniture.

We were so fortunate to find a wonderful home with Michelle.

The bunny will be lonesome no more, she will be living with chickens, parrots, Savannah the dog and Jasmine the cat.

Curly Locks and the 3 Bears

You all know the tale of Goldilocks and the 3 Bears.

That crazy kid had a heck of a time figuring out the right porridge, the right chair, the right bed and why didn't the bears just eat her when they came home......Goldilocks was obviously breaking and entering and vandalizing the place. The bears should have at least dialed 911!

Is she on drugs? Where are her parents?

C'mon little lady, time to get up and move along!

Well, here is a modern tale of Curly Locks and One Bear!

Curly Locks won a bed in a contest and it was MUCH to SMALL!

So, Natalie and the folks at PetSafe, sent Curly Locks a bed that was just right!

"Look, I can fit my curly self in here and it's heated too!"

And there is room for my Bear.

Thank you, Natalie and PetSafe.

This will come in handy on those cold winter nights.

Gotta go, my sister 'Constanza' wants to try the heated bed out too!

Good Weather = More Walking!

Yay, for these balmy 60 degree February days!

We walked around the golf course and dreamed of running down the fairway after those little white balls!

Stanzie spotted wildlife everywhere!

I checked out every bench along the way.

The 'Pink Dawn' Viburnums are blooming like crazy.

We stopped at the cement sofa at the community college...we SO want our own cement sofa for our landscape.

Note to self....research how to make a cement sofa......how hard could it be?

Then, we came home and planted a row of spinach and dog toys!

The awards go round and round, and two of them have found their way to us :D

Kendall the Cavalier, a local pup, who keeps us all informed on the best places for a dog to take his people in the Portland metro area. Today he is out wine tasting with his people! Hey, we want to do that too! Scrappy the Yorkie also gave us a lovely award. Scrappy is a bundle of cute and a good babysitter too! Stop over at Scrappy's and Kendall's place and say "HI" !

I think we are supposed to pass these awards on to many...but we choose to pass them both to ONE.

The soil is just pawfect now for digging.

The frost is gone and it's very diggable. It's very easy to put toys in and take toys out!

The cows like to watch us dig and we like to watch them too.

How come cow's don't dig? What fun they are missing out on!

I like to show the cows my toys, but they never want to play....

Ruh Roh, now what? Not another project to distract my mom from taking me hiking!

Mom saw some super cool pillows with dog pictures. Then, she got all interested in how to print photos and images on fabric. So she looked it up online.

Then, she bought some fabric that will go through the inkjet printer.....

...and she printed out some pictures of me and Stanzie right on the fabric.

Now, mom wants to make pillows and tote bags with Wyatt and Stanzie fabric!

Only problem is...mom forgot how to sew....BOL!

Seems it has been awhile...like 8th grade home economics class...ha-ha! Mom doesn't even own a sewing machine.

It turns out, that 'Christmas Tree Grandma', is the real crafty one in the family and has lots of sewing machines. So, she gave this one to mom, with the instructions that it can never be returned!

It's a 1957 Singer and still runs like a top. In fact, it is the one that mom used for her Home Economic's projects a few years back...Ba wah ha ha!

Now, we have to read the instructions and figure out how this thing works again. Mom hopes it is like riding a bike....I got my paws crossed for her...hee hee.

Don't wait up to see any finished projects...this might take awhile :D

I cheered for the dogs running agility! Look at that speed and concentration.

Meet an Airedale!!

Sunday, I worked one of the 'meet the breed' booths at the Rose City Classic Dog Show, in Portland.

I sat in front of the Airedale booth and tried to be as adorable as I could.

I got lots of petting.

I gave out kisses to anybody that wanted a kiss.

I visited with some baby peeps.

We got asked all kinds of important questions...Do Airedales shed? Do Airedales need a lot of exercise? Do they chase cats? Am I hard to groom? Do I like to go places? Are Airedales hard to train.

My peeps tried to give all the right answers, as I looked in peoples pockets for treats!

Hey, this is fun!

I discovered that EVERYONE there had treats in their pockets.

No better time to visit Portland's China Town and the Lan Su Chinese Garden.

Completed in 2000, Lan Su (Garden of Awaking Orchids) is considered the most authentic Chinese garden outside of China. Most of the materials used to build the garden, including 500 tons of rock, came from China.

By now, you have all figured out that my mom will shamelessly use my cute face, to enter any number of photo contests.

Several months ago, Western Interlock Pavers Inc. had a photo contest for folks to send in pics of projects they had completed with their products.

It was pouring down rain, but mom asked me to sit in this chair and make our patio look good!

Guess what! We won a prize. A professional paver hammer. This in a nice prize, cuz my peeps are professional paver installers.

Today, I went down to Clackamas Landscape Supply to pick up my prize.

Mango Minster 2012

Stanzie and I would like to enter Mango Minster 2012, in the Working Stiffs division.

If it were not for Stanzie and I, we probably would have no garden at all!

We both work in mulch distribution.

Stanzie works tirelessly on mole control.

We help plant.

We shop for bargains.

We help pick out new plants.

We inspect all materials for the landscape.

We harvest the crops....

and help with the chores....

and keep the gloves safe!

It's a ruff job, but we sleep good at night!

It has always fascinated us, how plants will throw out a bloom in the middle of winter.

Several days of 60ish weather and an otherwise leafless rosebush says, "Game On!"

Yay! Grandma invited me to come over and help her pick out some of the finishes for her new house!

I read today, that what you do on New Years Day will reflect the rest of your year..

I'm not sure if that's true, but I'm not taking any chances!

So, I decided that I would like to kick off my new year with a nice hike.

Then, we came home and packed away Christmas. I held on to the Panda toy, cuz I didn't want it to get packed away!

I've been holding on to him really tight...but NOW he has gone missing!!

He was last seen in a shallow grave under our cedar tree. But I checked there and he's GONE!

Stanzie just came in with dirt all over her nose and she reeks with guilt!

Could you please keep an eye out for my Panda toy. I've only had it for 1 week!

I would call the Blogville police, but it's hard to turn your own sister in for a crime.

I'm really getting into this neighbor gift exchange!!

Tonight we sat down in the living room and ate cheese and crackers and cookies and opened gifts!

Stanzie and I are not even supposed to be in this room, but the rules get thrown out for the holidays!

Dad got this nifty mechanical insect. My dad likes bugs....I like to eat bugs! (But not this bug)

Something special fur my mum in this little box. I got to help with the ribbon removal.

Today we went down to the river...Yippee!

It has actually been one of the driest Decembers on record and the river is pretty low.

Stanzie and I, always the terriers, looked for critters under all the trees.

Do you need some winter cheer without spending a lot of $$$ ??

Here is an idea!

Prune some limbs and branches around your yard.

We cut some evergreens and a few Barberry branches.

Anything with color will do! Conifer cones, bark, moss...it's all good!

Take an old hanging basket from summer...

...and just start stuffing branches in there!

We added a few pieces of ribbon for extra color.

If you don't have a hanging basket, then any basket will do.

"Mom, I need one more pine cone!"

I wonder if Martha Stewart needs a furry helper?

Pip has asked for all the dogs and cats to 'Occupy the Couch'

His peeps have left him couchless, while they wait to purchase a new couch.

In a show of solidarity for Mr. Pip, every dog and cat must 'Occupy the Couch' until Pip and all the dogs and cats get the couch that they so richly deserve!!

We have a couch, but we are not allowed in the living room :(

Sometimes, we sneak down there to look at stuff and try out the couch.

Just when Stanzie thought her birthday was over......

What's this!! A package from across the pond, from her beau George the Lad!

Ooooo..... pretty paper and tags with her name on it. A tag from George's sister 'Tess' too.

A recipe book and a tug toy! Mmmmm, the recipes sound so good....Scones, dumplings and cakes!

But, Stanzie is most fascinated by the little pink box inside.

She gently removes the lid.

Then smells the pink box, then she starts licking the pink box......C'mon Stanzie, just show us what is in the pink box already!

Awwww, it's her first piece of jewelry from a boyfriend.

I think she likes it Very, VERY much, George.

She loved the George fuzz in the box too. Next time, she will be looking for a bigger box with the whole George inside :D

Bear hunting with the 'Birthday Girl', part 2

In our last post, we took Stanzie to Dodge Park, where she looked really hard for a bear.

Silly Airedale sister...

We did not see a bear, BUT we did see a

CAMEL !!

We saw him on the drive home, just a few miles from our house. Not a real common site in our area...BOL. Mom saw him the other day grazing in his pasture, so he is not always in this little pen. (Maybe he is going to be part of a Christmas show ???)

Then, we came home and played like BEARS......Grrrrrr.

Mom put out some straw, because she would like our bear paws to be clean...heehee.

So, Happy Birthday Constanza Marie!! You are 10 years old today!

Hope you like your stuffie BEAR.

Sorry you didn't see a bear, but we bet you are the only Airedale in Oregon that saw a Camel this week!

Even in the winter, this nursery is full of whimsy and wildlife.

We successfully found and purchased an Oregon Native Azalea, Iris Tenax and some Evergreen Huckleberries.

No worries...this fella is off limits!

He is a part of the family, over at Ryser's Farm.

But, it got us to thinking about our Flav-or-ite holiday.

We got our place cards ready...heehee.

Nothing you can't do with duct tape. For more duct tape fun, check out the 'Road Dogs' blog and Frankie Furter's blog this week!

Stanzie LOVES turkey. She did not want to wait for 2 more weeks.

Mom found this dog recipe in this months issue of 'Everyday with Rachel Ray'

Turkey Jerky

One pound of ground turkey, 1/2 cup of grated carrot (we used a Yam), 2 Tbsp. whole-berry cranberry sauce and 1 Tbsp. olive oil. Mix all ingredients and spread on a 9-by-11 inch foil lined cookie sheet.

Bake at 200 degrees for 2 hours. Cut into 1 by 4 inch strips. Return the strips to the baking sheet and bake until dry, about 2 more hours. Cool, serve and store any leftovers in the refrigerator.

What leftovers?

Chewie is 7 1/2 years old and is a very fit male Airedale. He is 24 1/2 " tall and 75-80 pounds. He is microchipped, neutered, housebroken and up to date on his vaccinations. He has had extensive obedience training. Chewie is bright, good with people and children, but not with cats.

Chewie's owner has reluctantly surrendered his good buddy because his work requires him to travel a good deal and he wants the best for Chewie. Chewie is currently at his foster home in Tracy, California.

2) Tape it on to a big pumpkin

3) Take a toothpick and make holes along all the outlines.
