Trees that begin with 'Q'

Quaking Aspen
I had to take a few days off from my Alphabet of Plants, to think real hard about the letter 'Q'.
We had to walk outside of our yard to find some Q's.
Quercus garryana
Oregon White Oak
You know what is the best thing about Oaks?
Oaks have acorns and where there are acorns......there are SQUIRRELS!
I think there is one living under here.
Also Oaks are a good place to sit.

Airedales in Advertising

Airedales in advertising.....Hmmmm and why not! We are cute and perky. We like beer and hats just as much as the next dog!
Maybe our owners just need more beer, to put up with the likes of us terriers!
I think this doggie, is a Welsh Terrier....close enough!
Mmmm....Beer. But I'm not of age, Drat!
Here's my favorite! What a classy gal Linda Ronstadt is, to travel with Airedales!
Maybe I should go into modeling.  I clean up pretty good!

'P' is for Princess and Pretty Plants

This is my sister 'The Princess'. Miss Constanza Marie.
This picture is from a hotel at the beach.
Stanzie is contemplating room service.
Here's one of Stanzie's baby pictures with her stuffed Pepper.
Here I am in the Potato Patch.
This plant has leaves bigger than me!
Petasites Variegatus
I helped pick these Peony blossoms today.
This is after I dumped the water out of the vase.

My little farm

Howdy from the farm! We call this plot of dirt, we carved out of the lawn, 'The Farm'.
I'm not supposed to be in the farm, because I sit on the veggies and bury my toys in here.
Today, I'm barking about plants that start with 'O'.
Here's a row of Onion starts.
We also have some potatoes and tomatoes down here, but those don't start with 'O'!
Where should I bury my toy today?
If you squint, you might see the 2 rows of basil. It's been 50 degrees and raining for a month now. Poor little basil and tomatoes are very sad.
The weather does not keep me out of the pond. Don't Airedales have some Otter Hound in their lineage??
Many of you asked about the fruit on Oregon Grape and the other Mahonia Lomariifolia. They both have edible fruit. Most yummy to birds, not so much for humans. Mom and I, trotted down to our plants today, to taste them, so we could report back.
Not so good...kinda bitter and seedy. The birds can have them!
Happy Farming!

No budget pictures presents......

Greetings from our walk at the community college

The college has a horticulture program. Here is a greenhouse, with plants, that students have propagated.

Today is 'N' plants. Stanzie found a Nandina. Stanzie cheats, most of the plants here have labels.
Back at home, I found a New Zealand Flax.
..and a big green Norway Spruce.

So we produced our first video. We are pretty sure that Steven Spielberg does not have to worry about the competition! Maybe practice makes perfect....we either need a better computer, video camera or more talent! Hope you are not inclined to motion sickness. BOW WOW!

Thanks again to Greg and Lynn of the 'Oregon Airedale Terrier Society of the Willamette Valley' for hosting such a fun event. Their Airedales 'Gracie and Doc', tag teamed the lure and actually caught the darn thing.

Marigolds and Making my first Movie!

'M' is for the Marigolds that we just planted!
Maybe they stand a chance, if it gets warmer and I keep my big paws and butt off of them!
Mom and Me like the yellow Marigolds too.
The slugs like them too!
This 'Mountain Fire Pieris' shrub is my favorite. I hide all my toys from Stanzie, under this shrub. Shhhh...don't tell her.
Mahonia lomariifolia
which is related to Oregon's state flower
Mahonia aquifolium (oregon grape)
'M' is also for Making my first Airedale Movie. I've never made a movie before, so I'm having a time of it.
I'm getting close...stay tuned!

Luring is very alluring!!!

Sing along...
Terriers just want to have fun....Oh, Terriers just want to have fun un...that's all they really want...

LURE COURSE 101
Nice man named 'Ron', lays out a course of twine, hooked to this 9 volt, 1/4 HP motor.
Then he attaches a fur pelt and makes it race and flip around the track!
Cody (my older brother)

All good Airedales have to patiently wait for their turn to chase!

Tanner (my litter mate)
Australian Terriers
Dollie and Doc
Mocha asks "When's my turn"?
My daddy 'Keeper' is being a very good boy.
Paige asks, "Why would I want to chase that thing? What's for lunch?"
'Skye' wants a turn.
...And they are off!  Look at 'Doc' go!
Tanner accepts the challenge
Wow, that crazy pelt, changes directions too. That's no fair!
Woo Hoo, this is the most fun I've had all week!
Oh Happy Day!
All this running, makes a dog thirsty!
See you next time. My dad is making a video of our 'alluring day'. He just has to edit out the film of his shoes and the tree tops! Ha Ha!

Lots of Lovely 'L's!

Here's the last of the Lilacs...
Spanish 'Lavender'
Have you ever tasted Lavender?
Lavender is a popular spice now. It's used in everything from chocolates to ice cream!
I'm not 100 percent sold on it.
Here is Mom's leaf she made. We are going to stain it later.
This bushy conifer, is a Larch.
Weeping European Larch.
It makes an excellent Airedale Launch!
Lithodora
Swim break!
This afternoon, I'm joining other terriers, in something called a Lure Course.
I've never been to a Lure Course, but I understand we are going to chase a furry pelt around. How fun is that! Hope we can get the video camera working!

Happy Digging!
