Meet The Neighbors

So much to do and it's only January!

Today I help move some Daylilies around.

Everybody is pruning, so I do a little unauthorized pruning on this Japanese Maple. Mom has to fix it with some corrective pruning. Now I have been asked to only prune the sticks that are on the ground.
I become bored with these new pruning rules, so I go to visit the neighbors.
This is "Annie". She has a crush on me.
This is my neighbor, 2 houses down the road. His name is "Buck"
I think his name should be "Tex", because the spot on his head looks like the state of Texas.

This is my pal "Duke". Sometimes I growl at him, because he is 120 lbs. and seems scary.
Mom has fluffed up the garden soil while I was gone. I see why they are called garden beds.
Hey Mom! Could you bring me the Tempurpedic pillow, this rock isn't working for me!

Happy Digging!

This tarp's for you!

So, I think we can take down this flag. C'mon it's 50 degrees!

Let's get some pretty branches to take in the house. Here's a nice Witch Hazel.

Can I just chew on it for a few minutes first?

How about these Magnolia branches? Do you want one of these for the vase too?

Look Mom! The tulips are up!

Now off to help Dad with Man's work. Here's the tarp you wanted.

I'm running as fast as I can. Keep your shorts on!

We put yard debris on it and then I help Dad pull the load to the compost pile.

Here's the hard part. We have to pull it through the gate and it's really full and heavy.

Dad says "No! Pull to the right". I'm like, "Your right or my right". Super confusing, Dad.

You need to work on giving better direction!

Happy Digging!

What's Up!

This morning we tour the garden to see what's up.
Hey, the banana tree has a sprout up top! Pretty crazy for January. I guess it likes this 50 degree weather.

...and what do I spy, with my Airedale eyes.

It's the garlic that I planted with mom last fall. Actually she planted it and I tried to dig it up early. Now I will sit on the garlic. It makes my mouth water, thinking about all the yummy produce we are going to have!

Happy Digging!

Buried Treasure

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Monday January 25th. 2010

One of my responsibilities here as head gardener, is uncovering buried treasure. Today I make a grisly find. A HEADLESS DOLL!

I have found many artifacts here from the families that have lived on this land prior to us.
Here is my collection of "found by Wyatt art". I have an alien, a plastic St. Francis, many glass bottles and my favorite, "The Blue Demonic Poodle". He is also missing part of his head.
I'm very good at finding things. Any excuse to dig!

Dad likes my collection. He displays my finds in the garage window.

Tomorrow I search for the doll's head!
Happy Digging,
Wyatt

A dogs first blog

Good day fellow gardeners, dogs, friends of gardeners and friends of dogs! My name is "Wyatt" and I'm the head gardener here at "Rain Country Gardens". This position was most recently held by "Leo" my older brother from 1996-2008.

Leo
Gardener in Charge
1996-2008

My Mom, took over the job, until she broke her foot. Just a little landscape related
boo boo. She should take notes at my agility class!

So, I've been promoted. I would like to think it's because of my gardening skills and not by default.

Tomorrow we are getting to it, so you be the judge!

Happy digging and stay dry!
Wyatt
