What the Dickens?

T'was the day after Christmas and all through this house of pup, the family is freezing, the furnace blew up!
We are terrier tough, but thrilled that
the furnace man is coming today!

We have been out walking, what the heck. It's the same temperature outside as inside our house...BOL!

In other news, Tegan tried to fly.

On the 26th, Tegan crawled under the deck railing and jumped 12' down to a hard stone surface.
She yelped and mom quickly scooped her up and held her for a few minutes until she stopped crying and shaking. Then, mom gently set her down to see what was broken.
Tegan ran off, wagging her tail.

We took her to the vet clinic anyway, where they declared her perfectly healthy and suggested we purchase her a parachute or super hero cape!
Dad came home and put wire mesh along the deck railing. The folks can't take the drama of Tegan learning to fly.
So, you think you can fly sister?
I should send you to space in this alien pod.

We close this post, with a peaceful picture from Hood River, on Christmas Day.

A Merrier Terrier Christmas!

So many toys!
Some from Santa, some from the neighbors and the neighbor's cat, some from friends in New Orleans.
I did all the unwrapping, since I have 7 years of past experience.

These two are mine TEGAN!

I have to stake my claim or sister will take everything!

Sister got a new flat fox and a girly collar.
'Boomer' the neighbor cat sent over this Star Wars Chewbaca bone and a big bag of Crunchy Kale treats. For a cat, he's OKAY!
We gave mom some slippers.
We gave dad a new hat.
Grandma gave us this?
What do we need this for?
Mom seems to like it very much!

Tegan gives her first Christmas, 4 paws up!

Samson and his family came over for dinner!

Where's that little sister of Wyatt's?

I gave Samson a treat filled football.

But, I wanted it back!

Samson gave Tegan and Me a pink rope and a squirrel.

Samson wanted the squirrel back!

Tegan just wanted to drink wine and give kisses.
She also wanted ALL the toys and growled at Me and Samson........jeepers she has attitude.

Thanks Samson for being such a good buddy,
Us fellas need to form an alliance.

Sunday School

Last Sunday, we met up with Samson and a bunch of other doggies at Sunday School.

Teacher Patty, has us heel, sit and lay down.
We meet other doggies and learn to be polite and social.

It sounds easy, but there are many distractions!

After class, we can go unleashed and play with our classmates.

Holiday Noms

Mom makes us eat our Entire breakfast out of these treat dispensers!
She says it keeps us busy, at least for 10 minutes....

We have also been working on Tegan's manners.
So, we were very pleased when Canidae sent us these Bison and Pumpkin treats to sample.
They are easily broken into smaller pieces for training and we LOVE the Bison and Pumpkin flavor

                  Tegan DOWN!                            Tegan SIT!
Look Mom! She's Learning!

And NOW, a treat for mom and dad.
Almond, Pistachio and Hazelnut Toffee
Here's the recipe!!
1 1/4 cups butter (10 oz.)
2 1/4 cups sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup water
1 cup coarsely chopped blanched almonds
1/2 cup coarsely chopped hazelnuts
1 cup shelled, salted pistachios
1 1/2 cups (9 oz.) semisweet chocolate baking chips

Smoothly line 2 pans, 9 by 13 inches, each with a single piece of foil, crimping edges over pan rims to hold foil in place. Butter foil and set pans aside.
In a 5 to 6 quart pan over medium-high heat, cook 1 1/4 cups of butter, sugar, salt and water until mixture reaches 250 degrees on a candy thermometer, 6-10 minutes; stir often. Add almonds and hazelnuts; stir until mixture reaches 300 degrees, 4-8 minutes longer.
Remove from heat and stir in 3/4 cup of the pistachios. Protecting hands and working quickly, scrap candy equally into the 2 pans and spread evenly.
Let toffee cool until firm to the touch, about 2 minutes. Evenly sprinkle with the chocolate chips and let stand until the chocolate is softened, about 5 minutes. With a flexible spatula, spread the chocolate over the toffee. Chop the remaining pistachios and scatter onto the soft chocolate. Chill uncovered, until the chocolate is firm, about 15 minutes.
Lift foil with candy from the pans. Break toffee into chunks. Serve, chill airtight up to 2 weeks or freeze to store longer. Makes about 2 1/2 pounds.

Terrier Training and Gingerbread!

We have all been working really, Really, REALLY hard at training this Lakeland Terrier!

Every time she sits and Every time she lays down and Every time she pees outside she gets praise or a reward! Trouble is, she gets bored with praise and food rewards...what!?!

So, we have switched to "critter on a stick"!!
Now, when Tegan does the correct behavior, she gets to wrestle with a fuzzy fox attached to the end of a riding crop!

Look how sleepy she gets after school.

And while sister sleeps....I can supervise the Christmas cookie production!
