Summer Bugs Me!

This is a pin on Dad's ski hat.
Actually I like summer. It is Mosquitos that SUCK!
We got out our arsenal of mosquito repellents today.
Yep...it's all here. Dunks for the pond, citronella candle, sprays, lotions and salves.
Bring it on, you bitey bugs...we are ready for you.
We'll be dining outside tonight and you can't stop us!!
The other thing that bugs me, is that darn squirrel on the other side of the fence.
Come over here and say that!
...and these innocent looking yellow weeds, that stick to my fur.
Here's some happy news. The wild blackberries are getting ripe!
Stanzies favorite!
and a Sea of Susans..
Keep those recipes coming! We are having so much fun trying out all your favorites. Remember the prize is an Amazon Gift Card!! Send recipes to:

Sweet Peas and Pesto

Do you want to see what's happening in my garden today?
Here is a new crop of Radishes, that we just planted. There are some Sugar Snap Peas, we just planted on each side...good to plan ahead for fall crops!
Our first Tomato is getting ripe!  It's a little Cherry Tomato, my favorite!
We threw some Sweet Pea Seeds into the strawberry patch ages ago.
They are just blooming now and it is almost August. Just goes to show, how mild our summer has been.
There is silly Stanzie, laying in mom's sand pile.
We are going to the beach pretty soon and Stanzie is getting in the mood!
Tonight we are having Pesto, because we have lots of Basil and Garlic.
Mom and Dad love Pesto on everything...Crusty bread, Pasta and Pizza Dough.
And it is so easy....2 cups of basil, 3 garlic cloves, 1/2 cup of pine nuts in the food processor til mushed up, then add 1/2 cup shredded parmesan and 1/4 cup shredded romano cheese, mush up some more in the processor, then add 1/3 cup of olive oil.
Thanks Frankie Furter and Rocky Creek Scotty Dogs for your recipes.
We'll be trying them out this week!
Happy Digging!

My 100th Post

Hey, I've posted 100 times.
What a big mouth I have!
I've had so much fun and met so many nice friends. Even though we are separated by the miles, we have so much in common. One thing that we really have in common, (Dogs and Humans), is that we like to EAT!
My Barkday is coming up in one month! 8/23/10. When Mom and Dad asked what I wanted. My reply was lots of yummy food. So Mom is looking for recipes for my Barkday Partay.

Send us your favorite summertime recipes! Salads, Entrees, Desserts, Dog Treats...Whatever floats your summertime boat! We like everything and have no allergies! Just don't send any really difficult recipes, we have limited kitchen skills!
We will pick 2 winning recipes. One for Humans and One for Dogs. The winner in each category will receive an Amazon Gift Card. So you can buy a cookbook or some dog stuff or whatever!

Tour de Coops!

It's Portland's 7th annual 'Tour de Coops'
Portland's chickens, are lucky chickens!
There are some pretty nifty chicken houses out there.

Coops with green roofs, planted with sedums.
Rain chains too!
Chickens with their own mailboxes, screen doors and flower boxes!
Modern coops.
Coops with skylights and lots of recycled building materials.
Lush and beautiful backyards, with so many things to see!
Maybe all the chicken poop makes these plants look so good!
Thanks to Growing Gardens for hosting the Tour!
Thanks to all the chickens for showing us your homes!

Happy egg laying!

SING IT SISTER!

Stanzie's tribute to Bonnie Raitt...

I hear it callin'
Sound so sweet and plain
I gotta go, Baby,
'cause the road's my middle name..
Ruh Roh.....
I knew an only dog car ride, was too good to be true!
Well, how bad can it be?
Maybe if I stand under the table, the doctor won't see me.
Yeah! No big deal.  Just my regular check up and vaccines. I'm 61 lbs. of Tip Top A-OK Dale. I got a wee bit of the arthritis....but hey, I'm almost 9.

Back to my happy digging with Wyatt!
Love,
Stanzie

Airedale Tourists

We are visitors in our own city today!
It's fun to play tourist and look the place over with new eyes.
Our city was the end of the trail...
"Everybody, get out of the wagon!"
Are you sure the pioneers came over in this?
Where is the steering wheel?
Here we are, in front of the big map.
No GPS in the covered wagons!
So, first the pioneers built some houses out of logs.
Looks kind of drafty.
..and they planted a garden, so they would have something to eat.
The Barclays used to live here!
Look, here they are now! Hee Hee
Mrs. Barclay really likes us.
She invited mom to come back for Victorian Handcraft Demonstration Days.
This is the historic, 'Elizabeth Clark House.'
The first house in the county to have colored plumbing fixtures!
Now there is a real bit of Oregon Trivia!
Here is the resting place of John McLoughlin.
He came to this place in 1829 and staked claim for England.
It wasn't until 1842, that he named this place, Oregon City.
In 1845, settlers from the United States, voted the town, the seat of the Oregon Territory's first provisional government.
Sometime later...they added this dog pool.
Happy touring!

Dog Alive, I can't wait 'til it's time to go home
Hey!

Don't tell me to sit and stay
Come on, let's go and play
