Our Driftwood

You might remember back in August, when we went to the beach with the dog friends.
While us dogs were digging in the sand and the gang was drinking beer, our mom was walking around picking up sticks!
There were so MANY sticks! Mom wanted them all, but was limited by her ability to carry only a few small ones back to the car.

It became a family 'Sunday' project.
Dad drilled and chiseled out some planting troughs.

We all helped!!

Mom stuffed the holes with potting mix and little sedum starts from around the yard.

That was so much fun.
Now, we need to go back and get more driftwood sticks!

We♥♥the beach!! Let's go!

Heirloom Flower Friday!

Happy Flower Friday!
Brought to you by Rosy and the Gang!

This Friday we walked around the Oregon Trail Museum.
That got us to thinking about the seeds and plants that our ancestors brought out west!

Heirloom flower seeds like Zinnias, Love lies Bleeding and Marigolds.

Here is a little bouquet that we made from our garden with heirlooms.
There are some purple sage flowers and hollyhocks.
Guess what the 3 pink spikes are?!? Hint....the foliage is edible.
(answer at the end of this post)

Our first stop along the Oregon Trail is the Oregon City Brewery.
They have the best fries and you really work up an appetite along the Oregon Trail!

Tummies are full, now back to our heirloom seed story.

The settlers also brought lots of edible seeds.
The Cinderella Pumpkin (Rouge vif d'Etampes) has been popular since the 1800's!

Here is the answer to the mystery pink spikey flowers...…..
Drum roll please...…..

SPINACH!!
It's an heirloom variety called Purple Orach Mountain Spinach.
It's related to lambs quarters / spinach and is said to be very-very healthy!
We think it tastes yucky and only add it to dishes as a colorful garnish!!
It self seeds and comes back every single year...go figure, something that tastes yucky lives on.
But, it does make these pretty pink flowers...BOL.

The Pumpkin Stealers

Mom plants them.

We check on them, all summer long!

This one is mine!

Then, we pick them and display them on the front porch.

If history repeats itself, they will not be on the porch for very long!
Naughty "un-named goblins" will drag them out into the yard and chew them up.

Be on the look out for "Pumpkin Stealers" in your hood!
It's a Blogville Mystery!?!

Frisco Hammock Car Seat Cover

Oh Dog, the Chewy.com box is here!!
Is it something to eat?

No, it doesn't smell like something we can eat!?! What the heck is it and why should we be interested in it?

Oh, something to do with car rides....NOW your talking!
But, can our mom figure out how to install such a thing?...we worry...
Turns out to be easy peasy!
Perfect for our mom. Just put the loops over the head rests and tighten them up. There are openings for the seat belts if needed. This thing is heavy duty and machine washable.
Perfect for our beach trips, dog walks and just "everyday dog living".
It's Gray and Black, the same color as our terrier-mobile.

But, you want to know our favorite thing about our new Frisco Car Seat Cover?

This is kinda silly, but we ALWAYS grab our own toys as we run for the car. We can't even go to the post office without a squirrel or a ball.

This seat cover has 2 special pockets for our toy loot!!!!

We can bring stuffies, balls, bones and squeakies!

Car rides are the best, when your pink piggy is along for the ride!!

Thank you Frisco and Chewy.com for making Car Rides even BETTER!

The howliday weekend!!

There was more kayaking....without DOGS!! (Grrrrr)
But, the good news is: The folks are scoping out some end of the season kayak sales, so we can get some dog friendly water craft! We have our doggy life jackets too! We love boating and rafting and all things water! Terriers wanna go kayaking!!
There were some good times around the fire pit and we watched our peeps and neighbors play croquet.
We were also not invited to play that game, but we are pretty sure that us terriers could have got those balls through the wickets faster than our people...hee hee!

We did get in a couple of measly walks, sigh.....

We have been promised a "dog worthy" kayak by the end of September.....
I'm tired of promises, show me MY kayak or I'm going to be extra naughty.
just sayin',
Wyatt

Paint and Play Dates!

Our house was dark brown with about 5 different colors of trim.

First, some primer and voila....

Now, it's grey with rust trim!

The folks celebrated with Paella.

They met 'Doug'!

Then,
Tegan had a play date at the neighbors.
'Keeper' is about the same age and they flirted and played.
