One night in Krakow, Poland, when we tired of CNBC and BBC news, the only programs in English....we discovered an Austrian show dubbed in Polish, about a police dog named Rex. It was cute, clever and simple, SO we could follow the story without the English dialog.
On our return home, we have discovered episodes on You Tube and other sites for free, with English subtitles. Now we can watch Rex at home!
You gotta love a dog that can steal a ham roll and solve crimes! Maybe you will get a kick out of the show too. Check out the
1 minute clip from an episode.

Kommissar Rex (
Inspector Rex ) is a popular Austrian-made police television drama which aired from 1994 to 2004. In 2007 a new series was released (Season 11), under Austrian-Italian production. From February 18, 2008, the 12th season was shot in Rome.
The original series is set in Vienna and focuses on the three-man staff of an office of the Austrian Criminal Police - specifically a
Mordkommission, or Murder Commission. In addition to the three policemen, the office is staffed by a German Shepherd Dog, called Rex who functions variously as a cadaver dog, a sniffer dog (for both contraband and narcotics) and as another pair of eyes and ears for his team.
Rex is a highly intelligent German Shepherd Police Dog, who is employed by the Austrian Police Force in the Murder Squad in Vienna, Austria.
Rex lives with his handler, Inspector Richard Moser and goes to work every day with Moser and his colleagues in the Homicide Division.
Moser and Rex have many adventures, each one utilizing the natural canine skills which Rex is highly adept at carrying out as he is an extraordinarily intelligent dog.
