Willamette Weekend

 

It's just so doggone hot!

All I want to do, is lay in the pool, then coat myself in dirt.

 

Auntie Mary came for a visit and the folks all went down to the river, without us dogs!

They paddled in circles.....they bumped into other kayaks...they finally got some rhythm and momentum...BOL 

They paddled up the Willamette River to see the falls.

 

 

First, they stopped at the abandoned locks to snoop around.

These historic multi-chambered locks were built in 1873 and comprise of 7 gates in 4 chambers, which lift up 50 ft. They served as free passage past the falls, for pleasure boats and small commercial craft, until their closure in 2011. 

 

Onward to the Willamette Falls!

 

 Dad, Mom, Mary and the cell phone survived!

 

Then they went, wet clothes and all, to eat lunch and drink wine.

 

They finally came home and filled up the dog pool and let the real entertainment begin!

Flowers on Friday...not for you Bambi!!

 

 

Monday through Thursday, the mama goes away to work. 

She writes up wholesale orders for pretty plants.

She also makes the weekly plant displays outside the office window.

 

Meanwhile, back home,

"Us Terriers" try to chase all the naughty deer and bunnies away from OUR floral displays!

It's a tough job!!

Especially protecting the plants further away from the house.

Note this Sedum....the one far away, is missing all the flower stalks and the one by the front door is LOVERLY!!

 

Same thing with the roses....Hey Bambi! You missed one....BOL!!

 

 

Mom finally got the right idea with the stinky spray.

(no worries, just a cocktail of eggs, thyme and garlic)

You spray the entire fence line several times a week....not just the tasty plants!

 

Deer don't seem to like Hydrangeas

or Butterfly Bushes.

 

Deer DO like Daylilies and Black-Eyed Susan.

 

But, we have so many...they can't eat them all!

 

The veggie garden has been a hit and a miss this year,

but we have a few bright stars!

 

The Banana Tree is going to have little bananas again this year!

 

Now, back to our regular programing....what's for dinner?

What's hot?.....American Journey Treats!

OMD..it's so hot! Nothing to do but lay in a dirt hole.

….Or stand in the pool all afternoon.

 

...and watch the wasp traps fill up!

 

No way mom is going to make any home-made dog treats in this heat!

So, we are VERY happy that we have Chewy.com, to send us American Journey Treats. 

Delightfully healthy, baked treats, with peanut butter. YUM!

 

Just bring those snacks out here to my dirt hole and everything is gonna be all right!

(Wyatt is not allowed to pursue rabbits for 2 whole months! He hurt his back leg going after a bunny.)

It's a tent..it's a parachute...it's a hammock!!

The good folks at Chewy.com sent us a summer "thank you" gift box.

 

We puzzled over the nylon fabric in the blue bag.....

It's a pup tent...NO

It's a super hero cape...NO

 

OH...It's a Hammock!

We have never had a hammock before, so we had to think really hard about how to install such a thing. It must support a human and a dog or 2.

 

The perfect spot was found between the Tupelo Tree and the Parrotia Tree.

First, we made sure it could support a mama.

It's sturdy enough for a mama and A DOG!
