Cooper says,
Thank you all for the Paw'r Prayers...
I am on my second day after surgery. Things are beginning to return to reality.
Unfortunately, I'll be on restricted activities for the next two weeks.
Stitches (staples) come out then and the dratted cone comes off.
As would be expected, I am hobbling, but using the leg as much as I can.
The procedure I underwent is called "Excision Arthoplasty". In our terms, they cut the ball off my hip bone, so I no longer have a joint there. They had to do this because of a bone deterioration problem associated with the break and the previous surgery.
After the staples are removed, Dad and I will be going for a lot of walks, helping to strengthen my hip muscles and legs, for our planned summer adventures of hiking in the Steens Mountains. We need to be up to 10 miles by July!
Luv,
Cooper
Cooper, we are sorry you have to wear that dreaded cone. You look just as unhappy as Phantom. The good news is that Mom had a pup who had the ball removed from his bone too, on one of his back legs, and he healed very well and was able to walk and run just fine. We hope your recovery goes very well for you.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Wyatt, for the pupdate.

Do they create a synthetic ball or do they fuse the bones together and he won't be able to have range of motion there? How interesting... Hope you feel better soon Cooper!!!! I am sure Wyatt misses playing!!!

Cooper, you look great to be the second day. I (Snoopy) have been there although not for the same thing, so I know how you are feeling, especially wearing the T-collar. Why do they insist in making us wear this? If they only knew we can always find a way to get out of it. Anyhow, I hope you get better. And Rummer sends her best!
