Nitey Night Banana Tree

What to do with all these wet leaves?
I know!
I will make a nice blanket for my Banana Tree.
I will put a wire cage around it.
Then stuff all the leaves in there.
Just like a down comforter for my tree.

(Do you have any plants that need winter blankets?)

Sleep well Banana Tree, see you in the spring!
Wyatt

  2. My mom loads hers up in the wheelbarrow and moves it inside when it starts getting cold in the fall.

  3. did you know that banana trees like to 'walk'. There are many many banana trees back in my Mom's home of Australia and on the plantation bananas move themselves a couple of inches each year looking for food and water in the soil. And did you know they call the side shoots "pups". They also love being watered from the top and back home many people plant them under a gutter down pipe

  5. Wyatt, you REALLY ought to have your own show on HGTV! I used to use my leaves in my cold frame/compost/volunteer garden. Great composting material!

  6. Excellent work, Wyatt. I don't have to make a down comforter for a tree but I will have to make a thick blanket for the vegetable garden pretty soon. If only the dogs would dig on command, they could dig up lots of compost from the chicken run.

  30. Hey! That is awesome. I hear that the leaves will generate heat all winter and keep the tree roots nice and toasty.
