Lonely Sacagawea

Up on the highest peak in Portland, There is a lonely, forgotten Sacagawea and her little baby, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau.
She is cracked and weathered. Moss grows from her wood carved hair. Her moccasins have detached from her pedestal.

Sometimes, we forget she is there and she startles us, as we come around the corner.
But she is always smiling and looking hopeful.

We visit her every week, as we tend the shrubs, around her and "Little Pomp".

She seems content to wait.
She has already put in many years, hiding in the Rhododendrons.
She may have to wait awhile longer.
The house and property she calls home, is for sale for 2.7 million dollars.

I think the baby is crying....heehee.

  1. Our mom says she knows the story of this very VERY brave woman. It is sad that her statue needs some work. That must be why the baby is crying.

Thank you fur showing her to us.
