A change of season

We love this time of year.
Our trees are putting on their party clothes.


The rain is here....it's officially "wet dog" season too.

We are drying some decorative gourds in the barn.
This is our attempt at mouse proofing the operation.......

This Hollyhock is giving a final fall display.

The last of the annuals.
We love this heirloom marigold 'Jolly Jester'. 
It is so easy to collect and dry Marigold seed. So, we started that process today, before things get too wet.

    Ghostwriter has been busy cutting down stuff getting the garden ready for winter. She's got a ton of milkweed pods! The maple trees are just starting to turn color, but the birch tree is all yellow now. The nights are getting cold now, and we think a frost will come soon.

    Mom dried some of the purple cornflower flowers as she says they have medicinal value. I have no idea what that means but it meant she was in the kitchen where the treats are so. . . . .
