ASK WYATT

Today's gardening question comes from Kendall!

Dear Wyatt,
I need your help! The grass in my backyard won't grow and I don't like to get my paws muddy.
What is a pretty girl with white paws to do?

Well Kendall, you are in luck! Since you live close by, I'll send my peeps over to have a look and formulate a plan.

Thank you, Wyatt's mom!
Will Wyatt be coming over to help?

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...I'm thinking of clever plant ideas and lawn alternatives.
(notice dirt on nose....I think better while digging)

Like these New Zealand Brass Buttons.

Look Kendall, they are dog proof!

Leptinella Squalida 'New Zealand Brass Buttons'

Ferny, feather, green foliage is evergreen and acquires bronze tints in winter. Yellow button flowers bloom in summer. Grows in humus rich, moist yet well drained soil in full sun to part shade. Excellent plant for between stepping stones.

Stay tuned next week!
We will be 'Gardening with Kendall' !!

  2. Roxy has been gardening. We think she likes deserts and definitely minimalism. SHE hopes she gets through this phase quickly.

    Got some good ideas there.

Oh, HER first scottie was named Kendall...brings back memories.

  4. After you stop at Mr. Pip's you could come on over to Utah and leand a hand. MOM is having a terrible time with dandelions. Yes she put on the fertilizer and pr-emergent. But still they keep popping up. I have no idea how to help her (except to dig them). What would you do?
    Blessings,

  12. Are you going to plant the brass buttons all over the yard? You could call in the dogs of Greater Portland to come help dig out the old turf!
