Here is a little garden tip from Wyatt.
Do you have pesky birds, like crows or jays that like to gobble up your seeds and little sprouts?
Many springs, we have had our rows of peas 'Picked Clean' before they can even sprout!
Sprinkle a little bit of lawn clippings over your newly planted seeds.
I makes it difficult for the birds to see the new shoots.
This works great for corn and squash seeds too.
Snow Pea Pods
By the time the grass clippings turn brown, the sprouts will be up and established.
"Ha-Ha" Mr. Crow, we faked you out this year!
Wyatt
You better stay on guard duty or make a Wyatt scarecrow

ReplyDeleteYikes help Wyatt we don't have any lawn clipping. Must see if we can get some from the park. Great top tip. Look forward to more 'Gardening With Wyatt'. Have a tremendous Thursday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
We hope those birds stay away!
ReplyDeleteHey Wyatt!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a great idea! Mom gets mad because skunks dig up her bulbs and something eats up her hostas every year just when they get nice, big and pretty. Boy, the HBO words she says then. BOL She'll have to try this idea. She usually puts mothballs near the plants and that helps...but it's not perfect. BOL Thanks for sharing this!

Good for you! We don't like crows. We think they're just flying cats...they tease us. Glad you could pull one over on them!
