Have you ever planted anything that ran amuck?
Lamium and Vinca
Here in the wet, shady woods of Oregon, plants tend to get away from you!
English Ivy can no longer be propagated and sold in this state, because of it's invasive nature.
Petasites Hybrid
A "free" little start, brought home in a bucket!
Petatsites j. giganteus 'Variegatus'
A little "plug" purchased from a catalog 10 years ago, has now expanded over a 30' area with it's rhizomes.
In a month, some leaves will be 3' wide. An excellent place to hide!
Then, there is the innocent looking 'Wood Hyacinth' or 'English Bluebell'.
Propensity for reseeding make these good subjects for naturalizing.
What invasive plants do you have?
Happy Gardening!
Be careful out there..........the plants have legs!

Wyatt and Tegan
You better get out of there quickly, Tegan! YIKES! Our ground ivy with the pretty purple flowers takes over the entire lawn if you're not careful.
ReplyDeleteThe people behind us have some sort of vine that strangles our tree. So SHE has to sneak out to kill it every once in awhile and pull its tendrils out of our tree. But usually, we have trouble keeping things alive.

Those are all so pretty, l though!!! We have honeysuckle vines that are pretty invasive, but Mom goes after them pretty severely every year. The WORST are the allegedly-Dwarf Texas Quince bushes!!! Dad hates them - they spread, get HUGE and have thorns! He dug out a bunch, but they keep coming back. He uses a lot of HBO words about them.
ReplyDeleteCammie!
If Lady could grow anything it would likely run amuck!
ReplyDeleteBut all the better for you to have fun playing hide 'n seek:)

We've had a few of those types of things around our yard too.
ReplyDeleteSnow on the mountain, and woodruff growing everywhere. Kept in check by the lawnmower. We had a killer wisteria once. It grew like crazy but had hardly any flowers. Years after we removed it and took out as much of the root system we could, we still get shoots coming up!
ReplyDeleteYour invasive plants look nice.
ReplyDeleteAll we have in the back is pine needles
and blackberry vines. Mom planted a rose once
but the berry bush killed it.

Now that's a beautiful garden

the mama did such a thing...with smokeweed (yes the name fits to her)... she thought it will anyway waste away because of her 10 black thumbs and now the whole backyard is smoke-weedered :O)
ReplyDeletePretty!
ReplyDeleteGosh it just had to be ENGLISH ivy taking over and out staying it's welcome...
ReplyDeleteWe know all about that sort of behaviour here in Scotland....
Toodle pip!
