Crafting with Wyatt

Ruh Roh, now what? Not another project to distract my mom from taking me hiking!

Mom saw some super cool pillows with dog pictures. Then, she got all interested in how to print photos and images on fabric. So she looked it up online.
Then, she bought some fabric that will go through the inkjet printer.....

...and she printed out some pictures of me and Stanzie right on the fabric.
Now, mom wants to make pillows and tote bags with Wyatt and Stanzie fabric!

Only problem is...mom forgot how to sew....BOL!
Seems it has been awhile...like 8th grade home economics class...ha-ha! Mom doesn't even own a sewing machine.

It turns out, that 'Christmas Tree Grandma', is the real crafty one in the family and has lots of sewing machines. So, she gave this one to mom, with the instructions that it can never be returned!

It's a 1957 Singer and still runs like a top. In fact, it is the one that mom used for her Home Economic's projects a few years back...Ba wah ha ha!

Now, we have to read the instructions and figure out how this thing works again. Mom hopes it is like riding a bike....I got my paws crossed for her...hee hee.

Don't wait up to see any finished projects...this might take awhile :D

Happy Crafting!
Wyatt

P.S. If you are curious what that springy thing is in the background....it is the fold up Murphy Bed in the guest room (now the sewing room). Poor Stanzie, that is where she likes to sleep like a princess. She just got kicked out of her own room!

  1. Oh man, getting kicked out of your bed so that your Momma can make some pillows with your face on it. The irony!! I really like this idea, and I bet they are going to look amazing when you are done!!

  2. Wow! What a cool idea Wyatt. The Mama never would have thought of that. We can't wait to see the finished product.

  3. Looks like a fun project! Sewing is a lot like bike riding, so hopefully she has no problems getting it all set up and going. The worst part is getting that darn bobbin into the machine right!

  4. How sweet that you Mom wants to rest her head on an image of you when she goes to bed at night.
I was going to offer to send over Gail's sewing machine, still undisturbed in the box in which it was packed when she moved up here from London 13 years ago....

  13. Yup, your mom has her work cut out for her, so to speak. After you and Stanzie wipe your beards on the pillows and they have to be washed, let us know how the printing holds up!

  17. Oh dear, poor Stanzie.

Anyway, good luck Wyatt Mom! My mom also has her own antique sewing machine. It was from her Grandma and now she's passed it to my sister.

I can sew to patch things up and sew some stuff but not so perfectly.

We can't wait to see those new crafts.

  27. Howdy Wyatt and Stanzie, looks like a great idea. Can't wait to see what your mum designs. Our mum can't sew to save herself. She feels pretty chuffed if she manages to sew a button back on hehe. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory

  29. Hee hee hee! Mom says just after she and Dad got married, Grandma talked her into taking a quilting class with her. Dad's Great Grandma had a 1940s sewing machine she lent to Mom and it caught on fire one night while she was sewing. She ended up getting her own sewing machine for Christmas!

It's funny, our Mom is working on some pillows right now, too. We'll have to see how they turn out.

Oh, and we are all official for the Idita Walk! Now to start logging our minutes come Wednesday!
