Tales and Tails told us about the Idita-walk. We need to walk for 1049 minutes during February and March.
We were just wondering, if it takes us twice as long to get somewhere...
...because we look at the sights,
...Stop for a break,
....drink water out of little paper cups,
...look into every hole in the ground,
....stop to admire the golf carts
(next time, we should just go in this.)
Do our minutes still count?
We have 360 minutes now!
689 to go, whew!
Wyatt and Stanzie
"These paws are made fur walkin' and that's just what they'll do,
one of these days these paws are going to walk US RIGHT TO YOU!!"
(Don't wait up, it's gonna take awhile...BOL)
We think every minute should count! The rules don't say you can't slow down and ENJOY your walk, do they? We think QUALITY of time is just as important as QUANTITY!
ReplyDeleteWe will leave the light on, Wyatt - c'mon over.
ReplyDeleteLeisurely walks are the best, don't you agree?
Woos ~ Phantom, Thunder, and Ciara
Yours look like leisurely walk where you get to enjoy every scene along the way!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a challenge and I will look into it later on! I don't know the rules yet but I think all of your stops for water, etc, should count because at least you are pawticipating and that's half the battle!
ReplyDeleteYes I believe they still count!!

Well now I pawsonally think every second spent INTENDING to Walk DOES COUNT. OUR idea of a nice Walkie IS a bit differend from a Two Legger's you know. I mean have you ever seen one stop to smell the peemail??? they need to lighten up.
ReplyDeleteBut of course,evry thimg counts
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
I vote for them counting!!! Glad you enjoy the WHOLE walk!!! What's in those holes?!
ReplyDeleteThis is our third or fourth year of pawticipating in the Iditawalk!
ReplyDeleteIt's so fun!
Hugz&Khysses,
Khyra
Of course they count! That's our way of walking anywhere. Lots of love, Holly and mom
ReplyDeleteYes! It counts too!
ReplyDeleteGood job!
I am sure you will reach your goal soon!
Kisses and hugs
Lorenza
Every minute counts in my book! BOL! We just crossed halfway this weekend, but the weather is going to make it tough for us to make any progress this week. It's supposed to be cold and rainy all week. We're at 540, though, so we're happy with that! Those weekend hikes help me catch up a lot!
ReplyDeleteBunny
It's fun to stop and take in the sights (and smells) on a walk!! That's going to be a lot of walking to do, but I'm sure you will enjoy every bit of it!
ReplyDeleteElyse and Riley
You are doing a great job Wyatt! Take all the time you want to sniff those holes:)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you walk at more Basset Hound speed then Airedale speed!
ReplyDeleteSlobbers,
Droopy, Smiley, Kayah, and Mickey
I bet you're going to be soooo pooped after you reach your goal time! But enjoy every moment of it. Looked like you had a great walk & sight-seeing so far.
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmmm, jury's still out on that one!
ReplyDeleteXXXOOO Daisy, kendra & Bella
At that rate, you will have your minutes in, in no time. ENJOY!!

Way to go, Wyatt and Stanzie!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Teddy Bear
The golf cart idea is a winner, Wyatt - you at the wheel and Stanzie riding shotgun and your ears blowin' in the breezes. We love it!
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots
Maggie and Mitch
BOL! I like your kind of walkies Wyatt :D Great idea about the golf cart! :)
ReplyDeleteWaggin at ya,
Roo
Oh heck yea it still counts...I mean you HAD to WALK to da hole dincha?
ReplyDeletePuddles
Be in each and every moment of it and enjoy it, Wyatt. You will reach your destination before you know it.
ReplyDeleteDats a lot of walking (I has such short legs). Butt...you do has to stop and smell da roses (or da pee-mail)
ReplyDeleteYou'll be as fit as a fiddle by the time you get through with all that walking.
ReplyDelete"Start walking paws"!
ReplyDeleteOh NO she's got that song in her head now! lol
You got along walk to go..so pawstops are very important. Good luck!
Big Nose Pokes
The Thugletsx
Wyatt, Of course every minute counts.....all those good smells MUST be investigated.
ReplyDeleteHey Wyatt!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a pawesome thing to do! That stuff is a lot of hard work. Peeps don't always appreciate the effort involved in doing thorough investigations and checking out every detail of a good walk. If this was designed by a dog, you can bet that every minute and sniff will count! Great pix and enjoy the walk time.
Grr and Woof,
Sarge, COP
I "walk" at 'dale speed, too. mama says it means she doesn't get a very good workout b/c I like to stop and smell every blade of grass! hehehe
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Well yeah, you can't walk and not stop to sniff the roses.
ReplyDeleteLove your little song at the end : )
I think it counts...Good luck getting your minutes!!
ReplyDeleteKeep walking! Ha...
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely walk you had Wyatt and Stanzie! I haven't heard of the Idita-walk before and just visited the site - very cool! Thanks for sharing. I think you should be allowed to play catch-up in the golf cart since there's only a few days left in February!
ReplyDelete-Chandra at Daley's Dog Years
I think it counts...it's actually a marathon-training strategy.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to meet you Wyatt-I'm so excited to have a fellow Oregonian gardening friend!
ReplyDeleteThat sound like quite a challenge. I'm sure checking out all the things along the way counts but I don't know about that time on the bench, lol!
ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't been by lately, I've been sick as a dog, oops, well you know what I mean. Feeling better now though so Sunny and I can get back on the treadmill. He doesn't care if there aren't any sights to see, he just likes to go fast!
We're sure you're going to do it, with or without the golf cart's help! Have fun! Oscar and ros
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lot of fun, you have some beautiful scenery that we surely envy you for!
ReplyDeleteWe found you through Rubi and we will be back to read about your future adventures!
I think it still counts!
ReplyDeletePawsome sights! Well of course they count; even more so because your paw is in it. Uhm… I meant to say, your heart is in it :o)))
ReplyDeleteKeep up the pawsome walk you guys.
Smooches,
Neeko :o)
P.S. We use a baby bottle for our long walks and the water stays cold longer. Check out my postie: http://neekospaulding.blogspot.com/2010/07/monday-evening-turns-into-sunday.html
