BECAUSE...
The moss is fuzzier
The bugs come out to play
other slimy things slither.
The grass tastes better
The leaves are redder
But, the best part of THIS rainy fall day...
We shopped at the 'Edelweiss Sausage and Deli',
and dinner tonight is:
German sausage, rye bread and apples dipped in cheese fondue!
I think there might be a few bites for a couple of Airedales!
Nom! Rain days are very exciting around your part of the woods, I can see. A regular feast.

Eeek, that salamander Wyatt is sniffing is one of the most poisonous creatures in the Pacific Northwest. The poison can even be absorbed through the skin, and is secreted from glands on their backs. They are called the Fire-bellied Newt.
ReplyDeleteI saw many cats die from catching those little guys. Best to keep dogs, cats, and kids far, far away from them!
That Slug is COOL DROOL! BUTT the Supper looks SUPER!!
ReplyDeleteEwwww! SLUG! Is that a banana slug?

Well, now that you put it that way, rainy days sure do seem like good ones, especially if they all end with a yummy meal like that.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Wyatt.

Hard to be sure from the photo but it's definitely not a fire-belly. Could be a nice little Columbia Torrent. Here's a link: http://www.californiaherps.com/noncal/northwest/nwsalamanders/pages/r.kezeri.html
ReplyDeleteLucky Wyatt to find one!
Those are cool bugs you've got there! And those sausages are making us droooool! Dad's 1/2 German and in his pre-vegetabletarian life he LOVED those (probably still does, just doesn't eat 'em anymore, BUT WE CAN! BOL!)
ReplyDeleteThe Road Dogs
A Rainy day means snail hunting in the yard here. And everything smells so wonderfully fragrant after. But you are so right...rainy days just seem to bring out the best cooking...we love a nice stew simmered all day when it rains, but that German meal looks pretty dawg gone good!
