Salt and Fur

The other day, my mom wandered into a store that sold salt!
That's right, salt...but not the kind in the blue shaker with the umbrella kid.

The Meadow, Portland, Or.
100's of finishing salts from around the world.

Who knew that salt came in red, black, amber, pink, grey...

Mom bought a starter kit of Fleur de Sel (Guatemala), Sel Gris Noirmoutier, Maldon (England), Black Diamond (Mediterranean), Molokai Red and Kauai Guava Smoked (Hawaii).

They also sell fine chocolate, wine and flowers.
Ooooo the chocolate...another post!
But, nothing for dogs :(

Alas, a store for Stanzie and me!
This looks promising!
One of each please!
Ruh Roh...nobody said anything about this!
Here comes Stanzie and Dad.
Is dad going to get groomed too?

Here's a 'before shot' on the cement sofa.
Scraggly, full of weed seeds and stinky!

Come back tomorrow to see our short and sassy summer aire-dos!

Wyatt and Stanzie

  3. Those salts remind us of a funny that Mom did a couple of years ago. She was in San Diego at one of those street markets and someone was selling all these yummy-colored salts. Now, Mom doesn't do much in the way of cooking so she's certainly no expert on spices and condiments, but she does love bath and body products. Yep, you guessed it - she thought they were BATH salts! BOL She was kinda embarrassed ;\ Even now, she's looking at all those pretty salts thinking what a nice bath they would make :)

  4. In the photo of you shopping in the aisles, we spied our favorite duck jerky so we know it was a GREAT store! We love the cement sofa, too...cool and comfy!

Chef Richard is always bringing different salts over when he cooks. As a result dad has quite a collection (momma kind of thinks it is silly but she must avoid salt anyway). Now the chocolate, that is a WHOLE 'nother story...looks like heaven!

  13. Who woulda thought there'd be that many salts!!! My ma uses Pink "River Murray Salt Flakes" that is from here. Salt isn't really great for peeps or us kind, so be careful!!

I think your peeps hatched that cruel plan to sneak past all those yummmers things in that shop so you are distracted enough to not read that grooming sign early on. Never mind - a little bit of pain ends up with lots of cuddles because the peeps think we smell and feel so lovely after groomin'.

Good luck, and Tail Wuggles, Rubie.

  14. OMD, the mama would be in her happy place. We order Fleur de Sel at one of our specialty shops. A whole store of finishing salt is almost too exciting for words.

    Not sure it's comfy???

Good luck with your Aire trims...

  19. Hi Wyatt, I didn't know you could get so many different kinds of salt, I just thought salt was salt so thanks for educating us and it just goes to show that humans can learn from dogs.
